Asperger Pride is the first organization of self-advocacy that is exclusively self-managed and self-funded by people with aspergers in Italy. Our association aims to promote knowledge and increase research of the autism spectrum, the condition of neurodiversity and variants linked to them. Asperger Pride has the ambition to provide support not only to the Asperger families, directing them towards an appropriate diagnosis  in early childhood, but also taking care of  those with Aspergers  as adults. Asperger Pride is primarily aimed at teenagers and adolescents.  Working for conscience and responsibility, Designed to help people  become as independent as  possible, to recognise  not only their limitations and ways to overcome them  but also their potential  and strengths.  Asperger Pride also offers the opportunity for parents and partners, for people without a diagnosis to receive useful information to understanding and insight of the life of neurodiverse people, through an exclusive insider point of view of the Syndrome.

Erika Becerra, person with Aspergers Syndrome, is founder and president of the organization founded in 2011. She is active in the design of innovative projects for those with Aspergers and those most disadvantaged by autistic spectrum conditions. From the 2012 to 2014 she has organized the event Asperitivo at the Istituto Agrario Garibaldi a secondary school that uses the Peer Mediator Education Method. In the 2016 has done a project of social inclusion at italian school, students and teacher has been fully satfied.  She has edited and published Aspie Kit a useful kit for teachers and students who work with people with Aspergers syndrome. She presented a speech at the 10th International Autism Congress in 2013 in Budapest about her project of social inclusion Aspie Friend. She is an active member of Autism Europe and the Youth Committee of the European Disability Forum. She has attended as official speaker to the European Youth Event in 2016 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg with Aut-Services a project of employment and social inclusion.

Cristina Magrini,  a person with Asperger syndrome, is the organization secretary. She has a degree in counselling and is a member of  the International Association Psychology. With an apprenticeship at the psychoeducational intervention behavioural structure ABA Giulia Parla Recently collaberating on the Peer Education Mediator programme at the Istituto Agrario Garibaldi Rome.   She offers a welcome and advice to our contacts at our office in Rome.
